2015 Music: Michael Sooy

If you have attended a Women ACT Conference, our musician for our silver anniversary will be a familiar face to you. Mike Sooy has handled our sound system for many of our conferences. We are delighted to have him “front and center” this year, and know we all will be blessed by his music ministry.

Mike currently serves as the worship leader at Old Fort United Methodist Church. He lives in the booming metropolis of Old Fort, Ohio with his wife Lindsay, son Clayton, and daughter Cora. Mike has been involved in music and ministry basically all of his life. He sang his first solo in church at the ripe old age of 2 years, and began taking piano lessons at church at the age of 5. And the rest, as they say, is history. He took off from there and has never looked back.

After growing up in southern Indiana, he received his Bachelors Degree in Music from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. Following his college years, he teamed up with Old Fort Church, and has now been serving there for over 15 years. He is also currently the lead singer for “Hoopty Hoo & the Such,” a Christian rock/worship band. Michael has been a part of numerous musical ensembles and solo projects over the years, but has found that music ministry is one of the most rewarding things in his life. “There is nothing better than to connect with the Heavenly Father, or better yet, to lead someone to Him, through worship.”
